Website Development Cost in India (2026)

What a business website costs in India in 2026, what drives the price up or down, the running costs after launch, and how to compare quotes fairly.

The short answer

There is no single price for a website, because "a website" covers everything from a five-page brochure site to a booking platform connected to a CRM. Quotes in India range from a few thousand rupees for a template to several lakh for a custom web application.

Kriyvo AI publishes fixed prices for the most common websites: a landing page at ₹999 per page (delivered in 1–2 days), a business website of up to 5 pages with a blog at ₹4,999, and a WooCommerce e-commerce store with payments and shipping at ₹9,999 (both delivered in 3–5 days). Domain and hosting are extra.

AI features have fixed packages too: a website AI chatbot at ₹1,999 and basic n8n automation at ₹3,999. Anything beyond the packages, such as a custom React or PHP build or a web app with logins and dashboards, is quoted to scope, with the price fixed in a written proposal before work starts.

What drives the price

  • Number of pages and how different they are. Ten pages that share one layout cost far less than ten pages that each need their own design.
  • Custom design or a template. A template is quicker and cheaper; a custom design is built around your brand and your customers' journey.
  • Who writes the content. If the copy, photos and product details are ready, the build is faster. Writing or sourcing content adds time.
  • Features. Booking, payments, logins, multiple languages, search and product catalogues each add real development and testing work.
  • Integrations. Sending enquiries to WhatsApp, a CRM, Google Sheets or an email tool needs setup and testing on both sides.
  • Platform. WordPress suits teams that want to edit pages themselves. Custom React, Next.js or PHP suits sites with specific design or functionality needs.

Running costs after launch

The build is a one-time cost, but a website also has running costs. Budget for them up front so they don't surprise you a year later.

  • Domain name renewal every year.
  • Hosting, which depends on the platform and traffic. A simple WordPress site and a custom web app have very different needs.
  • Business email, if you want addresses on your own domain.
  • Paid plugins, themes or third-party services, such as a booking tool or WhatsApp Business API provider.
  • Maintenance: updates, backups, security patches and small content changes, either done in-house or on an agreed plan.

Freelancer, agency or DIY builder

A DIY website builder is the cheapest way to get online and works for very simple needs, but you are limited to what the platform allows and you pay a monthly fee for as long as the site exists.

An agency gives you a team and a process, usually at a higher price, and you often deal with an account manager rather than the person building the site.

An independent developer usually costs less than an agency for the same scope, and you talk directly to the person doing the work. The risk is reliability, so check a real portfolio, a real address and a written scope before you pay.

How to compare quotes fairly

Two quotes are only comparable if they describe the same work. Ask every developer to put these in writing:

  • The exact pages and features included, and what is excluded.
  • Who provides the content and photos.
  • How many rounds of revisions are included.
  • The payment milestones and what is delivered at each one.
  • Whether you receive the source files, admin logins and domain ownership at handover.
  • What support is included after launch, and what it costs afterwards.

A cheap quote that leaves out content, revisions or handover often ends up costing more than a higher quote that includes them.

Getting an estimate

The quickest way to a realistic number is a short brief: what your business does, the pages you need, the features that matter and your timeline. The Kriyvo AI project estimator turns those answers into a brief you can send on WhatsApp, and you get a personal reply with a price range. The first consultation is free.
